A FEW NOTES TO EVERYONE
A few notes. IF you haven't seen Inception, SEE IT! It is an awesome experience even though it is a little complex. Totally worth it. And that anti gravity fight is what The Matrix's signature 3 bullet dodge was. It will be talked about for years to come.
Another note is that I will be out of town for a week starting sunday ad am not sure if I will have time or an internet connection to post scripts. So I will try my best to post around 7 for you guys tomorrow so that you can have some reading for the week.
I still don't have the script for Inception. Have been working on getting it. Hopefully by the time I get back it will be easier to get my hands on. If by any chance anyone does get their hands on the script, please send it over. Thanks!

CHRISTOPHER NOLAN DAY
Alright people, this is what you've been waiting for... but you'll have to wait a little longer. I DO NOT have the Inception script yet. When I do, I'll post it. But that doesn't mean we can't pay tribute to one of the greatest directors in Hollywood at this time. What I love about Nolan more than his directing is his writing. I truly feel before he is a director, he's a writer. If you look at his films, they have such a solid script. That's what makes his movies so good. I recently found out that four of his six movies are in IMDB's top 250 films of all time. That is impressive. I can't think of any other director to have that.
A little history on Nolan. He began making movies at the the age of six or so with his father's 8mm camera. HE used his toy action figures as actors. Eventually he progressed to making shorts with real actors. Several of his shorts have been publically recognized. His short Tarantula was shown on PBS in 1989. He studied english literature at University of London. Throughout most of his childhood he traveled back and fourth from London to Chicago. He has dual citizenship and carries around both his passports on him at all times. In 1996 another short of his, Larceny, was shown at the Cambridge Film festival.
His first full length feature film, The Following, was made on a 6K budget. It can be found on Netflix instant Q if you're interested. It has some similarities to Memento his sophomore film. After showing The Following at the chinese film festival he raised almost all the money for Memento which was shot on a budget of 5 Million. And the rest is history. Here is to Christopher Nolan. Thank you for so many great films. Enjoy!

PLASTIC MAN BY THE WACHOWSKIS
Plastic Man is suppose to be one of the Wachowski great unproduced screenplays. The other one which is on the list of top 12 unproduced screenplays in Carnivore. I have Carnivore but it is only in a text format. If you'd still like it, email me or comment below. For the few that don't know, the Wachowskis are the brains behind The Matrix trilogy. Enjoy!

INTERVIEW WITH WRITER/DIRECTOR DAVID WAIN
Here is an Interview I was lucky enough to get with writer/director David Wain. Enjoy!
INTERVIEW:
How did you get your "big break" in Hollywood?
I guess it was when they needed a director last minute for Role Models and Paul Rudd suggested me.
What's the difference between writing for television and writing for features? Which do you prefer?
They’re both fun and challenging. The TV work I’ve done has been sometimes crazy because you’re writing one episode while you’re shooting another, editing yet another, etc. Feature writing is tough because you have to keep perspective on material over the course of years.
Did you have a mentor in the business?
I don’t, really. I kind of always wish I did.
Was it hard to convince the executives to let you direct Role Models?
Not really - it was a fortunate situation where they needed someone fast so I pitched them on what I thought the problems and potential solutions were to the script and they took a chance on me.
What was that experience like working on Role Models?
It was extremely challenging because I had to walk into a movie that was already in pre-production but needed to completely re-write the script simultaneously to casting, location scouting, shot listing, etc.
You act as well. Do you feel there is an advantage while you're writing because you have acting experience?
Everything overlaps for sure. I’m thankful to have some idea what everyone on the set is doing because I’ve done it too.
How did you get an agent when you were first starting out?
I was very lucky because when I was in college I was in a comedy troupe (The State) and was also interning at MTV. Through a series fortunate events, we got ourselves involved with a series on MTV (“You Wrote It You Watch It”) and we started being managed by a childhood friend of mine (Jon Bendis) and someone he knew (Steven Starr). Steven was a former agent at William Morris and he introduced us to the agency and they signed us as a group.
What advice do you have for aspiring screenwriters?
Just keep writing, writing, writing. No substitute for doing it. And then make movies! These days it’s technically so in reach you have no excuse!
Future projects?
Right now in pre-production on my next feature which is called WanderLust.

INTERVIEW WITH DEFENDOR PRODUCER
Here is an interview with the producer of the Woody Harrelson movie, Defendor. Nicholas Tabarrok is a successful producer who has his own production company, Darius Films, and was nice enough to grant me an interview. Enjoy!
NOTE: The following is paraphrased do to my recorder not working on the day of the interview.
INTERVIEW:
What attracts you to a project?
The script, the director, the writer, who’s involved in the project, what it entails, it all varies.
You recently made Defendor with Woody Harrelson, what was that like?
Great. It was a blast to work on. This was very close to woody. Him and his agent were a big part of this.
How were you able to do it on a three million dollar budget?
It was very close to woody as I said. He loved the script and really wanted to get this thing made. It helped that he was so interested in it.
You deal mostly in low budget movies, is that a preference?
No. I’m attracted to movies that are off beat, funny, not your typical action flick. Sure I’d love to make a 50 million dollar movie, but the movies I like tend to be more low budget. I like movies that are driven by their material.
Where do you get your material? Some production companies have in house writers, others hire out. What is it for you?
Well most if not all production companies hire out writers. I don’t think there are that many that have in house writers. We get our material from everywhere; agents, mangers, writers. Some directors will bring me a project they’re interested in. It all varies. The writer of Defendor, Peter Stebbings, he brought the script to me. I’ve know him a long time and gave him his first job in the business. But we get it from all over. I’ve optioned books and things like that too, but a lot of it comes from the talent.
So what about Spec scripts? Do you take submissions?
All the time. To this point I believe all our movies have been based off spec.
What’s your favorite part of the job?
It’s the development process. I love being there trying to get a story flowing, or being there when we cast and the director and me talk about who we think will be good. The physical production is probably my least favorite because it’s not convenient. Unfortunately while making a movie you’re not just making one movie, you’ve got others going into production, so things need to be done with those. Towards the end of a film in the final weeks of editing I’ll spend most the time with the editors. The director will have been there most the time, but towards the end I like to be there as well. I just love the work.

JJ ABRAMS DAY
I figured I might as well make it JJ Abrams day considering I've posted three of his television scripts in the past week. A little history on our boy JJ.
While in college he studied the script of Ordinary People. He sold his first script at the age of 23. That script was Taking Care of Business. Through the early 90's Abrams slowly grew, writing everything from comedy, to drama, to sci fi. After writing Armageddon it was a couple years till he wrote and produced Joy Ride. And that put him back on the mark for films. While writing films, Abrams also had a successful television career which started in 1999. He created the show Felicity which went on to run for four season and was a big hit. Along with writing Joy Ride in 2001 he also created the show Alias. This put Abrams on the map for action writing. Although he had written things such as Armageddon, this pushed him into the realm of television even further. The show was a success and pushed Abrams stardom farther. In 2004 he created the show Lost, his third series. Lost would redefine the way we watched television. Abrams then went back to films where he wrote and directed Mission Impossible 3. For a first time director, it was the most expensive budget. And that secured Abrams as a go to film director. Now a days Abrams does everything. He created the show Fringe a few years back and has over a dozen projects slated fr the future. He has also exploded as a producer. He produced and directed Star Trek in 2009. His Production Company, Bad Robot, is one of the biggest production companies in film today. He has also created one of the most anticipated television series with his new Undercovers. Abrams has accomplished a lot so far, but I have a feeling there's a lot more in store in the future. Enjoy!
