CHRISTOPHER NOLAN DAY

Alright people, this is what you've been waiting for... but you'll have to wait a little longer. I DO NOT have the Inception script yet. When I do, I'll post it. But that doesn't mean we can't pay tribute to one of the greatest directors in Hollywood at this time. What I love about Nolan more than his directing is his writing. I truly feel before he is a director, he's a writer. If you look at his films, they have such a solid script. That's what makes his movies so good. I recently found out that four of his six movies are in IMDB's top 250 films of all time. That is impressive. I can't think of any other director to have that.

A little history on Nolan. He began making movies at the the age of six or so with his father's 8mm camera. HE used his toy action figures as actors. Eventually he progressed to making shorts with real actors. Several of his shorts have been publically recognized. His short Tarantula was shown on PBS in 1989. He studied english literature at University of London. Throughout most of his childhood he traveled back and fourth from London to Chicago. He has dual citizenship and carries around both his passports on him at all times. In 1996 another short of his, Larceny, was shown at the Cambridge Film festival.

His first full length feature film, The Following, was made on a 6K budget. It can be found on Netflix instant Q if you're interested. It has some similarities to Memento his sophomore film. After showing The Following at the chinese film festival he raised almost all the money for Memento which was shot on a budget of 5 Million. And the rest is history. Here is to Christopher Nolan. Thank you for so many great films. Enjoy!

  3. Hey Michael,
I agree. The Dark Knight read excellently. Same with Memento. That's why I believe Nolan is one of the best filmmakers of this time. He doesn't ever going to production without a script that i solid. As I said in a stat above, only too films are not in IMDBs top 250. His first one and Insomnia. Insomnia he didn't write so I understand that and his first film was just that, his first film. He is definitely one of the best.
