TRAINING DAY SCREENPLAY.

I didn't really know what else to put up because nobody gave me any suggestions besides District 9 which I can't find anywhere (if anyone has it send it please). So here is Training Day. This script is flat out awesome! Quick backstory, the writer, David Ayer, was working as a TV/sound system installer before he started writing. One day he installed stuff for a writer who offered to look at his work. The rest is history. So for you aspiring writers never give up! ANyways Denzel Washington won the Academy Award for best actor in this and so here it is...Training Day. Enjoy!

Chris Evans the New Captain America!

Chris Evans accepted Marvels bid for Captain America! HE will be in at least three Captain America films, another possible 3 Avenger films, plus appearances in many more!

A little background on all this, they have spent the last month trying t figure out who they wanted to play Captain America. It was down to Krasinksi(The Office) and Vogel(Cloverfield) but then about two weeks ago Marvel started adding more actors. In a one week span the actors jumped from two to eight!

We'll see how it all turns out. I believe shooting begins early to mid summer. WHat do you guys think? Right pick or miss?

Chris Sparling Day!

Today I'm posting two scripts by Chris Sparling. For those of you who don't know, he sold the script Buried a while back, which just premiered at Sundance. He sold another script, ATM, a couple months back. He is red hot and is sure to sell another script soon.

SHANE BLACK screenplays!

Here are some of the screenplays from my favorite screenwriter Shane Black. For those of you who do not know, Shane Black sold a spec script called Lethal Weapon at the age of 23. That's right, he was 23 when he wrote the screenplay for the much beloved Lethal Weapon. I hope to get an interview with him soon for you my fellow followers so keep coming back and keep an eye open.
His most recent movie, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, although not a box office success, was a very well written screenplay and is one of my favorite. If you haven't seen or read it I suggest you do. Enjoy.

MOVIE REVIEW: The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day

(SPOILERS)

The Boondock Saints II, the sequel that people have been waiting for for over a decade. It came, it went, and not many people saw it. The first one was never released in theaters, thus it never made a profit from there. Where it did make its profit was video stores, blockbuster, places like that. Over the past decade, The Boondock Saints have become a cult classic phenomenon. It's to the point where you can walk up to an avid movie goer and say, "what did you think of this scene in the first one" and then continue a conversation with this random stranger. It has helped develop the cult film industry, and in turn, made an enormous name for its self.

Now that I've gotten all the great things about the first film out of the way, it's time to move onto the second film, All Saints Day.

The story starts off with the MacManus Brothers living a quiet life in Ireland (IMDB). They soon receive the news that their beloved priest has been murdered. But worse, someone has tried to frame them for this murder.

They cut their hair, shave their beards, and show us these awesome new tattoos on their back as they shower naked in the barn (I know, I thought it was weird too).

Before you know it, we're swept back up in this familiar tale of the MacManus brothers and they're quest to rid Boston of its scum. Unfortunately that's where the two movies stop. While the first one was hilarious do to the brothers fighting, the practical jokes on each other, and of course the three detectives (Greenly!), All Saints Day tried to go beyond that, and in turn completely out ran it.

The brothers meet a man on a ship named Romeo who quickly takes the place of Rocco. Now in my opinion, this started to kill the movie. They tried to use the same jokes, the same style, but in the end, it didn't work. You can't take all the jokes and shit you do with one character and then move it to another character after he's dead, it just doesn't work.

So they get to Boston and start their killings. While all this is going on, we have learned that Smecker (Defoe) had an apprentice. She's hot, she's violent, and she doesn't work out. In the beginning it's funny to see the detective's nervous ooks, the cheesy attempts to over rule her authority, but eventually it becomes dull and we miss the original.

If you're still watching at this point, you see that a midget has framed the MacManus brothers for the murder. Longer down the line you learn that this was all about things that happened with the MacManus' father, back in the 50's or 60's.

Basically to sum up the rest of the story, the Saints go out to try and help their father in this several decades long fight he's been having with his ex partner. The Saints soon lose their father (or so it seems, we see a hand that looks like his go up in the air at one point) and are thrown in jail.

In the end we realize that Smecker (Defoe) is still alive, just living a quiet life under a different name. And that is basically the great twist at the end. While it may have worked for some, it was whatever for me. By this point in the movie I was board and felt it dragged. Nothing tops the original.

Now I did like a few things about the movie, I'm not all negative. The final battle was fucking awesome. It was five minutes of nothing but pure gunfire, blood, and death. Awesome. I also found one of the mob men funny considering the fact he gets his teeth knocked out immediately. He soon has to wear a head piece and sounds like a freakin idiot for the rest of the time which is hilarious.

In the end, it was a decent movie, but didn't even belong in the same category as the original. It was a decade long project that for many flopped. If Troy Duffy decides to make another one, he better make sure the story is legit like the first one, otherwise people are not going to see it.

**2 out of 4.

Here is the script if you'd like to read it.

Oscar Reactions

My Oscar reactions are pretty basic. I had a feeling the people who won would win. The one that threw me, like most people, was for best adapted screenplay. I did not see Precious winning that one. I thought that would go to either Up in The Air or District 9.

Also I felt like Tarantino got snubbed when it came to best original screenplay. I know how good The Hurt Locker was, but I felt like Inglourious Basterds deserved it more, especially with all the allegations towards The Hurt Locker.

Best picture and best director in my eyes go hand in hand. It was great seeing The Hurt Locker and Kathrine Bigelow win. I thought that The Hurt Locker truly was the best movie this year. Avatar was visually great, but lacked in story I felt. The Hurt Locker had it all.

PART 2: BLOCKBUSTER SCRIPTS.

Yesterday was part one of our blockbuster scripts. As you can guess here is part two.

1. Hancock-Will Smith's highest grossing movie yet. As most of you know, Smith is a box office sensation. Every movie he is in turns out to be a blockbuster, thanks to his hard work and dedication. He's come so far from Fresh Prince of Bel Air. This was a funny, yet action packed movie that anyone could enjoy. Also made the blacklist a few years back.

2. The Exorcist-Ranked 151 f all time. This movie chills people to the bone. It's budget was one million yet brought in over 375 million. When you have that ratio, not many complaining.

3. Seven-One of the greatest, if not the greatest police movies ever. This movie is what makes films the way they are. We all strive for this when it comes to screenwriting. Andrew Kevin Walkar took us to an unknown, yet so familiar place, showed us what he wanted us to see, and left us thinking, holy shit that was good. 30 million dollar budget with a 350 million worldwide.

4. American Beauty-One of my favorite movies of all time. The script truly doesn't differ much from the movie. Winner of 5 Academy Awards including best original screenplay. I can't say enough about this movie. Hilarious, emotional, and just a overall great movie about how each family is fucked up in its own way.

5. The Godfather-One of the greatest movies of all time and is always near the top on anyone's list. This movie made almost its entire casts careers, not to mentioned sparked two sequels (I know the third was terrible, but hell the second was great). The Godfather had a budget of only six million dollars yet managed to real in 245 million worldwide. Now that's a blockbuster.

6. Juno-Another blacklist script written by the very talented Diablo Cody. Based off her experiences, the script centers around a young teenager who gets pregnant and the experiences she must go through. This won DIablo COdy an Oscar as long as a nomination for Jason Reitman (Up in The Air) as best director.

7. Rocky-One of my all time favorite movies. A true underdog story that grabs you from beginning to end. I love how long it takes to truly set up the fight and boxing career. If you look, the first 30 or so pages are about his true feelings for Adrian. Without this crucial set up, the audience would care less whether he wants her or not after his fight with Apollo Creed. A budget of 1 roughly one million, brought in 225 Million worldwide. Also nabbed an oscar for best original screenplay for Sylvester Stallone.

8. Pulp Fiction-One of the greatest screenplays of all time. Quentin Tarantino delivers a smash mouth performances leaving us wondering at the end, what the fuck did I just see. With his non linear timeline and classic dialogue, Tarantino was meant to make a movie this cool. This script nabbed writing team Quentin Tarantino and Roger Avary Oscars for best original screenplay. If you have yet to see this movie, rent it tonight. Based on a 8 million dollar budget, brought in 213 million worldwide.

That's it for part two of blockbuster scripts. Come back tomorrow for the third and final part. As always, enjoy the scripts.

First Post of BLOCKBUSTER SCRIPTS!

This will be a three part BLOCKBUSTER scripts post. On the third post I will give a review of my favorite one of them all. If you have any questions ask, and as always enjoy the scripts!

BLOCKBUSTER SCRIPTS PART 1

1. Avatar-Can't really have a blockbuster list without having this at the top. Avatar is now the highest grossing film of all time. It pasted its previous competitor, Titanic, which was also directed by James Cameron. Let's just say Cameron is the master of blockbuster movies.

2. Lord of the Rings: Return of the King-This is the third highest grossing movie of all time, bringing in over 1.13 Billion worldwide. Peter Jackson is one of the ultimate director/writer/producer there is this day. Even though The Lovely Bones didn't do so great at the box office, it doesn't take away from his legacy.

3. The Dark Knight-One of the greatest movies of all time. This ranks up there at number five. It won two Academy Awards, including Best Supporting Actor which went to the late Heath Ledger. This movie was just overall fucking awesome. You're not gonna hear a lot of complaining about this one.

4. Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope-Back in the day this movie killed the box office. It ranks twenty fourth all time worldwide bringing in 798 million. In todays standards, that pretty close to Avatar's feat. And for anyone who has seen Star Wars, it's out of this world.

5. Transformers-As much as it pains me to put this one up, it is a must. It's no small feat bringing in over 700 million worldwide. Transformers ranks thirty six all time. Michael Bay, the king of action movies, made another high impact, explosive film, that grabbed people of all ages. Although the story line was mediocre, that didn't stop moviegoers.

6. The Hangover-Alright I had to put this one in. When you have a production budget of 35 million and yet bring in 462 million worldwide, you have to be recognized. This is the highest grossing R rated movie of all time. The sequel is already in the works. If you like comedy, this is a must.

7. Sherlock Holmes (2009 version)-Oh Sherlock, how so many looked you over. I've put this one up because I truly feel that if this hadn't opened the same weekend as a couple other big titles, you would be up much higher. You've got a great cast of characters that just turns this story into one to remember. If you've seen the movie, you know what I'm talking about. With a 90 million dollar budget and a 480 million worldwide gross, this ranks Sherlock Holmes at number seventy six all time.

Come back tomorrow for part 2 of this three part series.
HINT: Some of my favorite scripts will be tomorrow.

Enjoy.
